I must add,as a afterthought, remove aerial prior to step 2. As my dear father found out on his Peugeot. The interior had never been so clean but the shut lines on his door just never looked the same

You put a roadster through an automatic car wash :o

A hand car wash I can understand, but I'd be worried about the seals getting fecked (nor mentioning anything else...).

Brave...

I will admit to putting my spitfire thru, shortly arter fitting the newly purchased hardtop, just to see how good it was. With hindsight it was rubbish, lesson learnt. I wouldn't p ut any car through an automatic car wash,as I've said, seals are the least of your worries if my old mans driving.....

Some praiseworthy dedication here!

Unless its a special occasion my car cleaning is mostly about removing the dirt than adding protection; I really need to get the clay bar out and seal and wax my paint sometime!

Anyway when the car is dirty I do the following.

1) take car out of the garage

2) liberally apply bilberry wheel cleaner/agitate with brushes and then rinse with a hose until the wheels look.... Ok.

3) use hose to rinse all of the car including arches.

4) wash wet car with a big bucket of warm water with grit guard and a wooly mitt - I prefer zaino car wash. If roof dirty insert step where this is cleaned first using BMW hood cleaner.

5) rinse after washing each panel

6) dry with a waffle cloth

7) clean windows

8) apply AG vinyl and rubber care to tyres

9) spray interior with scented freshener.

10) quick drive to dry the car out and avoid the brakes/handbrake sticking on.

Advice required guys, Already do all the usual stuff using Maguiars products which gives excellent results but also have Auto Glym Super resin Polish and Maguires carnauba wax. After washing and polishing is it best to use one or both?

I have two different versions, the quick, and the looooonnng.

Quick:

Pressure wash entire car
Apply Bilberry to wheels
Apply APC to lower body work
Pressure wash again
Two bucket method wash entire car
Rinse off
Clean wheels
Apply tyre dressing
Clean door/boot shuts
Clean interior trim with damp MF cloth
Hoover

Fin.

Looooong is all of the above, but including

Pressure wash entire car
Apply Bilberry to wheels
Apply APC to lower body work
Iron x wheels and lower body
Pressure wash again
Clay
Two bucket method wash entire car
Rinse off
Clean wheels
Polish
Wax
Apply tyre dressing
Clean door/boot shuts
Clean interior trim with damp MF cloth
Clean leather with leather cleaner
Hoover
Clean roof
Seal roof
