Owned our T25 VW Campervan for nearly 9 years - only had 2 previous owners and is in pretty good shape for its 26 years :D - has developed a small exhaust leak - I have a whole file of receipts etc and looks like it still has the original exhaust ( it is a VW ! ) Anyway I took it in to see what part is leaking - bearing in mind the engine is in the back and the exhaust is made up of several downpipes and a couple of boxes - apparently it's blowing through a gasket on a bendy bit - needs two downpipes - cost £100 each plus labour around £150 + Vat etc total £440 :o Can get a stainless steel complete system for around £600 plus another £200 fitting :( Alternatively the joint can be welded for £60 as a temporary measure - wouldn't normally consider this but was thinking of selling it if I can persuade SWMBO - she would not be happy and I would end up in the proverbial doghouse !! It's gobsmacking what people will pay for these old campers - mine has an agreed valuation of £5.5K - my eldest daughter had a Type 2 Bay ( more desirable ) but in a pretty shocking state of rust - sold for £6.5k almost as soon as it was advertised :o

Not sure you can get OEM parts anymore - this is the real problem - specialist camper breakers also take advantage and sell bits and pieces at exorbitant prices.
 
Yup, mate has just sold an old Talbot campervan, really old, fumes coming into the cab, loads of work needs doing and he got what he paid for it last summer - £5,500, the asking price! Amazing things. I have a nice red VW T4 2.5 auto in the garden . . .
 
You sure are having a fleet clean out by the sounds of it.

Any luck on selling the Z?
 
Same with the old bugs, their prices are ridiculous! (to me anyway!)

With that said, it's always nice to spot a camper out and about! Don't sell it, get it fixed and enjoy it!

Have to say we do enjoy it - it's taxed all the year round - we have taken it to Cornwall , North Devon and up to our friends in Durham - Have camped out in it but prefer to stay in a B&B or cottage and use it for touring and stopping off for a brew etc - it actually has 2 extra berths in the pop top . a 3 way fridge , basin with electric water pump , 2 burner stove . and evn a gas heating system :D I talk a lot about selling but unless it develops really major expensive faults I probably never will :)

As regards the Zed - similar story - I deleted the for sale post after only a couple of days - truth is I hate changing cars - the zed is pretty unique - it's all original and looks about as new as you can get for an early Z4 ( excluding JE's car but with a proper engine :rofl: ) and still below 30k miles . I suppose if someone had turned up at the door the same day I would have let it go so relieved that it didn't happen . The option of a local Sports and Prestige car dealer selling it on a commission basis is still there - whilst he doesn't normally sell 10 + year old cars when he saw mine he wanted it on his forecourt.
 
We are currently renovating a T25 for a customer..

We had a good look around for a stainless system, as did the customer and JP exhausts in Macclesfield did the nicest system with superb quality..

Most of JE's car isn't original one though, it's more like Triggers Broom.
 
But if the original system lasts 26 years (my Golf is on the original as well at 22 years now), why would you replace it with an improved and more expensive system?
