You say hello, and I say goodbye.

Hello all.

Only my second topic and it is time to say goodbye. Unfortunately my research has taken me somewhere I was worried I might end up - I do not fit in the Z4. One of my favourite places is a car supermarket that allows access to the cars without the hovering salesman so I took the opportunity, while in the area, to try out the Z4. As the cars are parked close enough to each other to mimic a carpark I learned that I can't get in or out of the beast without looking like Professor Hawking minus his chair. I know there are people (my Mrs included) who would insist this would not hamper my enjoyment of the car, but I can't forgive pain I'm afraid.

Thank you for making me feel welcome in my brief time here and, rest assured, if I ever change my mind I will be back!

Enjoy your Z4s!

Ian

First mistake is to be in a carpark in the first place :) At the best of times I roll out of the car as I avoid to touch the bolsters so for me that would not be a reason.

Don't think any other sports car is much better either ...

It's for this reason that I am looking at something in a convertible four-seater. Not as sporty but my back will probably forgive me more after a long day at work!

I have two other 4 seater convertibles, but the Z is very different. Yes, the others are easier to get out of but the driving experience is not the same.

My back is fine in the sport seats and have done plenty very long drives (Scotland trips, Swiss trips).

It is not as comfortable as my X5 with sports seats, but for a sports car it is quite good actually.

I am not a hardcore, country lane thrasher any more and the bank balance won't let me visit the petrol station enough times for that anyway. The back comment wasn't about the seats by the way, they felt rather nice in the brief time I was in them. It was more to do with the twisting to get in and out.

If you press the unlock button twice the windows open making access easier in tight situations.

Don't look for a 2 door coupe / convertible. I have a 335d coupe and its doors were very very long.

The affect of this was that the tighter parking spaces made it incredibly hard to get in and out as the door gap too small.

The double tap of the open button is a good idea, but it doesn't always relieve the problem.

I once had to get in through the window when somebody parked just that little bit too close.
