Yet another tyre choice and place to buy question!

Currently got run-flats but thinking of changing over to standard tyres. I don't use the Z4 that much (also got a Type R) so don't want to go mad and spend a fortune on tyres.

I've had a look at mytyres.co.uk and I can get Avon ZZ5 for around £310 or Uniroyal RainSport 3 for around £317. I'd then need to get those fitted (which looking at their list of fitters seem to be around £10 per tyre).

Are these a good choice for the money? Or better still is there anything cheaper but also good quality?

Thanks in advance for any help :)

I don't think you could grumble with either of those for the money , I haven't tried the Avon's so can't comment specifically but after just completing around 1500 miles on a Euro trip with my son's 340bhp VW Scirocco running 235 35 19 Rainsports can honestly say they are terrific on all surfaces & weather .
We had rain on uk Mway & a detour through Sussex backroads & not a quiver , we hooned the country lanes at 28-30deg & they were never fazed or squirmy in or out of bends .
Well worth £317 a set for your Z id say

Thanks for this. Actually just found them for £289.26 inc delivery via camskill.co.uk. With the fitting do I just phone up a tyre place and ask them for the price of fitting only? I've never bought just the tyres online and just wondering whether tyre places are reluctant just to do the fitting.

Depends on the garage. In my experiance most will fit tyres non supplied by them but you might have to pay a premium.I was quoted between £15.00 and £25.00 per tyre. Just phone around for the best deal , and check out any references they may have re fitting with no damage to rims.

Two tyres fitted at National tyres last week on the Saab for £23.00.

Cheapest place to buy was oponeo although was marginal against Tyreshopper (National tyres own website) when the cost of fitting was factored in.

I do love the tread pattern on the Uniroyal's though. Not sure whether that's a good reason to buy them but I reckon that, and the price they seem a pretty good deal
