Yet another rear spring failure

Yep, another spring failure, happily driving along a nice smooth road when I heard a loud matallic snapping sound. I knew exactly what it was, took the wheel off later and there was about 3 inches of the coil laying on the bottom rear wishbone. My car is an 03 but its only done 20k can't belive there has been no recall ,it seems such a common problem.

Has anyone here on the list actually done a spring replacement themselves? Is there a DIY that anyone knows of? :?

I don't know if there's a 'how to' on here, but I am gonna do mine myself, so I will try to do a write up and post some pics ( if successful ? )
