Yet another bluetooth adapter question :-)

I just bought an adapter (cheap) from ebay which purports to be compatible with my 2006 z4. However the pins seem different, and the 2 are not going to match up. From the photo does it look like I cannot use this sort of adapter?

Here is my connector (business CD, no aux, no multichanger) and the adapter:

Well, obviously I'm an idiot, as you can use this adapter - it just reroutes the small connnector pins to the matching ones on the big connector.

Problem is now that 'Aux' mode is not found on my cd payer - just disc or radio. I'll search that in the forum though, as I'm sure I've seen it.

I have a business CD unit aswell and just bought a little dongle that connects into the multi cd changer plug , that is located in the boot behind the carpet.
search on amazon for this

BlueMusic Interface Audio Bluetooth Compatible avec BMW E46, E39, E38, X5 E53, X3 E83, Z4 E85 E86 avec connecteur de changeur 3+6 CD

im sure there is a DIY on here but for the life of me i cant find it.

Unfortunately I have no CD changer plug :-)

My unit works now, in that the bluetooth connects, I just can't select anything other than CD or FM on the head unit to access it!

Have you checked in boot?

I think I can work out how to fit the bluetooth module from my ebay unit to the cd changer plugs in the boot...

Most Bluetooth adapters connects to the CDC (CD changer) input, not AUX. Can you select CDC on your head unit?
If you connect it to the back of the head unit and have the CDC preparation (wiring harness), you might need to disconnect that first.

Here is an old thread with a pinout for the head unit: https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=42371

I think it's just a crappy adapter I bought (it was £12!). Connection to aux is correct, but I don't think the resistance is correct to signal to the unit that there is something connected. The other (much more expensive) adapter linked above connects to the Autochanger plugs in the boot, which seems more likely to work.

The BlueMusic Bluetooth adapter is good.
I have the version that connects to the back of the head unit. But if you have the CDC preparation option, that might be the easiest way to connect it.
