Loosened my stubby that is-thanks Adamski for suggesting i give it regular wd40 -ing.It helped because i nipped the end of the red straw so i could push it between the join,i thought yeah this is turning and coming up but when i looked closer it was only the outer cover pulling up  -but it revealed part of the inner which i was able to unscrew using an 8mm spanner-all greased up and put back now  (ive tried the radio-it still works :) )

Andy - great job  believe it or not I checked mine for rotability this morning, all beause of you :D Next project, take the roof off just to be sure the motor's fine - there's a really god how-to on here somewhere...

AAAAGGGRRHHHHH  -dont say that!(glad yours rotated as it should mate!)

I did of course mean 'good', not god, who's a nice chap but probably more of an OEM man.... Or woman, of course.

I don't understand! You removed your stubby to check that you would be able to get it off in the event that you ever had a reason to remove it. Is that right?
When I fitted mine it was obvious that I'd be lucky to get it off again, and if I did take it off it certainly wouldn't ever fit again. I was just pleased that it was fitted and was stable, and gave good reception. Why would I try to take it off again?? :?

You're joking aren't you? There was me thinking that Andy was wanting to remove his stubby just to fit an even shorter stubby.
A case of size is not everything I guess.

:? Actually, I thought the same thing, but Andysat was so chuffed I didn't want to mention it in case he'd forgotten and we burst his bubble.... :D

I can see the benefits of regular stubby loosenage (?).

At least when 8ft whip arials become trendy you will be able to remove yours with ease.
