Yellow tint to Main Beam

Hey guys,

I've changed the side light so it isn't the awful yellow tinted bulb but then noticed the main beam having a yellow tint too, i know i rarely use it but i thought while i was looking at the headlight i would change this to a nice white light too.

So i bought some Philips H7 X-Treme Vision, i fitted one side to find they are still the yellow tint.

Is there a reason why the main beam has a yellow tint?

thanks

That's weird, almost as if it is not getting enough power, like a dimmed light ? I don't know what the problem is but lots of people know lots about lights on here.

Philips X-Treme Vision are quite yellow comparing to hid's ,if you want to match your main beams, fit hid kit .

main beam is high beam, marius.

dipped beam is your normal night time driving light.

i ended up fitting a hid kit in my halogen headlamps, as every halogen bulb i tried always had a yellow tint, even if they do give them fancy ''super white/blue'' names.

oh bugger!!, thanks guys at least i know why.

Anyone know the sorta cost of a HID kit? it looks like its going to stay yellow as know it wont be cheap.

That is very, very dim though. It should be the same 'tint' as the dipped beam. Ranski and cj10jeeper know a lot about lights...

No the light isnt dim its just the angle ive took the pic so it didnt blind the camera

I do like the lights on the Z4, i havent known a car light up the road as good as it does.

so you can see the light is bright when you move the camera more in mine

You are the first person ever to say that about the headlights. In history. Unless... Are your dipped headlights xenons ?

I was just going to say the same! :)

Me too! My zed headlights (non xenon) are appalling!

Every time I take my car in for a service or MOT my Indy re-sets the beam height... But I forget that they do it, go out in the dark, and wonder why the f*ck I can't see anything :D

Must remember to ask them to stop doing it

Mine are xenons.

You should see the headlights on my gf's beetle, there worst ever, can barely see 2 foot in front with main beam on

That explains the difference in brightness and colour then. I guess the only thing you could do to even them up is get very bright xenon-like H7 bulbs... But all the ones that I have seen say they are for off-road use only. Might get pulled for them at MOT time, but you only use them to flash or when there's no other cars travelling toward you.

Think I'm not going to bother, as you say only used to flash people. Sounds too much effort, rather be driving it or on the bike lol

My high beams used to be slightly yellow, changed for some Philips Xtreme ( some here). Colour and brightness is a lot better, and whilst not white is far closer to the xenons...

They are the same bulbs that I fitted, as I mentioned in the first post with pic

Mine are nowhere near that yellow, not sure why yours are? Mine also have angel eyes round them, so the yellowing is even further reduced, but even without that they are far less yellow and closer to white that you picture is showing?
