yellow oil indicator stays on

hi everyone
2day i notice for the second time that when i park my car after a drive (30 min this time) the oil indicator stays on in yellow after i turn off the car as long as the key is in the ignition (even in the first position), first time i saw it i satrted the car again and it became red and disappear, so as this time. i checked the oil level and it says "oil ok".

btw its a 08 3.0si roadster with 7000 miles on it.

You need a top up... These motors use a litre every 6-10K - my 3.0 lit the light at ~ 5,000 miles

which fuel should i use? (the car still has the oil from the factory .. and how come it says "oil level ok" when it isnt? :? )

Your oil is down ~ a 1/2 litre. If it was down any more than that the light would stay lit - its the way the warning is programed to show you at shut down - use whatever the recommended BMW approved oil is for your region.

i went to the dealer and got some elf solaris slx 5W30 (dealer said it was approved and reccomanded..)

however, the yellow indicator doesnt stay on anymore.. (it did after a drive this morning but not a drive after) does it mean its "on the edge"? sould i fill it with 500 ml ? or wait to the light to come on again ?

Sometimes it takes a while to reset-the oil is circulated as needed (as I understand the way it works in our N52 engines). When I had my oil changed, it took a while to reset-said I needed oil, but as the engine warmed, the light went off and it registered properly.
 
hi, i got 500ml and now it says oil ok (after a while it reset as you said) but its still has 2 lines down. should i put some more? the original worning said "+ 1" so maybe i sould..

If you only put 500ml in you need to add the other 500ml, topup should be 1 litre.
