Yellow Handbrake and Traction Control Light

Good day all,

Whilst driving about a week ago, the traction control light came on and the handbrake light on the dash, both yellow and stayed on. After restarting the car, both lights went off. Driving today, the lights have come on again whilst out for a drive and remain on even when restarting the car.

I’ve plugged the car in and it reads no codes at all. This seems to happen when there’s hot weather strangely. Anyone had the lights on permanently before? Conscious this will be an MOT fail in about a weeks time.

Pressing the DSC button makes no difference.

Had it in the garage Friday and found out today that that it’s the ABS pump. They’ve suggested sending the pump off to be refurbed. I like the garage and trust their advice, unsure on cost yet though, but what will be will be.
 
Fitting of new one around £1600, refurb assume half of that

I had the same problem in February, refurbed the pump and had no issues since. Other open is a 2nd hand pump from Ebay.

Hopefully all will be a smooth process, this is the only real bill the car has thrown at me tbh in a year of ownership. So happy to spend the money.

Thanks for that, the indy have said they will send the unit off to be refurbed, something they're currently getting a quote for. I was however having a look in my own time, my VIN returns the part number of 34516764087, however not many places online that refurb the modules seem to refurb that part number. I own a March 2004 3.0i, does anyone know of a different part number these models had?

I had the same a few years ago. I removed the unit and sent it to ECU testing, who replaced a brush or two and sent it back.

It's been fine since, but I now make sure I trigger the ABS every once in a while. Apparently the motor seizes up otherwise.

I have used them four times now for EPS motors. I have had occasion to ring and speak to them and they have been extremely helpful.
I'd suggest you give them a call and discuss your concerns first.
 
Good morning all,

I did promise I'd post an update for those who may have this issue in the future and for those who helped with initial advice!

The car is back from the garage and is fixed after taking it in, it was quickly diagnosed as being the ABS pump and as stated a refurb was suggested. The code that appeared initially was 5E21, and after conducting a few checks on the health of the pump it was agreed that it wasn't performing as expected. The pump was removed and sent off and came back with a new lease of life and ABS pressure sensors ordered and replaced. All in the work cost £650 including an MOT which was completed with no advisory items :D

The brake now feels completely different, whereas before it was basically all or nothing with the brake pedal, there is now much more modulation after a fresh bleed and still plenty of bite when planting my foot. Most importantly, no warning lights! I'll never tell anyone that owning a zed is without it's issues or cheap, but it's got no advisories and is on the road as my daily driver and hopefully there's thousands more miles to go.

Great news and not too expensive in the grand scheme of things.
Was that done at ECU Testing and does it come with their lifetime warranty?
 
I believe that is the case yes! I would definitely recommend using them, the whole service was very straightforward. I’m very pleased with the entire process :driving:
