Xenons not lifting properly

Well tonight is the first time I have used the car in the dark since having the springs replaced and noticed the xenons seem very low set on the road.

Turned off the engine and re-started to see if this would sort it but it appears not. Even the headlight salute thing that they do when you first turn them on only lifts and drops slightly, nowhere near how they did before and the noise the motor makes seems different... More strained somehow??

My first thought is that one of the levelling sensors on the suspension has been damaged while replacing the springs. I was under the impression though that these are located on the rear shock absobers. The only ones that were removed were the front ones as obviously the rear springs are in isolation to the shock absorbers?

Anyone else had this problem and can shed any light?

Yes, parked on level ground.. The light beam projecting on the roadway is only a few feet infront of the car now. Main beam is still great, its just dipped beam :?
 
I'd be going straight to the sensors. Can't remember exacly, but there should be one on opposite front and rear corners. Almost certain one is has its connecting link broken when fitting springs or other repair work.

Very little chance of it being related to the lights themselves as both woudl have to have the same sort of failure and are controlled separately.
 
Thanks CJ.. Ill take it back to the garage who did the springs and get them to check it out.. Is it a pretty simple task to renew them do you know?

Yep - they just bolt onto the suspension arms to the body. Often broken if the lower wishbone is forced down to remove the springs without limiting the movenent.

Take a look yourself to see them.

I have to fit a rear pad sensor sometime, so will take a look to make sure I'm not making the above up :)
 
Just got round to getting this fixed. Took it back to the garage who lowered the car. Luckily it was just the front sensor that had come loose. They re-fitted it and all seems to be OK. Well they are saluting as they did originally. Guess I will know for sure when it gets dark :)
