Xenon Headlights

Are high beam lights also xenon in my Z4? And are both high beam and low beam lights integrated in same unit (headlights are brighter after I turn the high beam on)? The ring side lights are separated from main headlights (high and low beam).

Bi-xenon headlights on E46/E60/E90 have high and low beam xenon lights separated.
 
I've not looked at a facelift UK xenon in detail for some time, but the standard is that the outer lights are xenon and are both the dipped and high beam. Dipped is simply a shutter that moves to cut off part of the upper RHS of the beam. Therefore they are bi-xenon

The inner light is a simple H7 halogen that also comes on with main and is used as a 'flash to pass' light as xenons should not be flashed.
Some facelift units have the centre blanked so it's just a dummy light.
