Xenon/Electric issues and Water Leak

Ok, my first dealings with Xenons....so excuse the stupid questions!

I have just bought my Z4 (The Beast) happy days!!! :D

When I bought it it had bad condensation in one headlight.
What I didn't realise at the the time, was the Xenons don't actually work on main beam (either side)...the fogs don't work either.... I'm sure they were checked when I bought it two weeks ago...but they sure ain't working now :(

I've also discovered I have a leak in the boot (left hand side in the little dip) after heavy rain..I also found the battery two inches deep in water!!!!

HELP...would rather know what needs doing than end up with a huge bill..while the Stealer figures it out :headbang:

I don't have Xenons, but IIRC the "main beams" on real Xenon's are just false and one unit supplies both dipped and main beam? Stupid question but, you have tried the fogs with the dipped on at the same time right?

Condensation can be fixed with replacement seals for the light covers and a hair dryer.

Depends on pre or post facelift. Pre facelift have a shutter system for the main beam ("full") and a halogen in the inside for the flash to pass.

Condensation needs sorting ASAP as the water can settle at the base of the headlight, where the xenon ballast connects. This causes corrosion in the ballast and will cost you £70+ to replace.

on my facelift

the side lights are angel eyes,
dipped beam, is xenon
full beam is xenon with shutter open. same lense as above
fogs are lower down in bumper

I too had water in headlight, some one didnt put a back cover on when i got the car

So had to replace the ballast

The water leak you are experiencing may be linked to two vents located behind the rear bumper.
Fairly common issue, this link provides further info. http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=61611&hilit=Leak&start=15

Thanks for the advice...I'm waiting for more heavy rain to try and figure the boot leak out.
As for the Xenons, the car went in for a service today.. Apparently the Xenons are a bodge job involving a fair wack of electrical tape and some very odd wiring.. The reason I can't get the fogs on is because the Xenons only have one bloody setting wired up and it's none of the wiring is talking to each other... I'm gonna go on ebay and get the original headsets...can't be doing with a mix of dodgy wiring and a headlamp that looks like the Amazon Rain Forest....

They look nice but too much trouble :|
