Just driven my new Xenon equipped car and have blacked out patches where I want to see!

Is this normal?

How do you know if and why do you want to see 'there' wherever 'there' is in relation to a beam pattern on the back of a garage door?
:?

As I'm driving along the dark slot is often exactly where I would like to see. Thought a pic against the door would highlight beam pattern. Looks strange to me.

Presuming you have a UK car then maybe the headlight internal euro driving flap things have been set for driving on the continent (wrong side of the road).

Do you agree it seems wrong?

Something doesn’t look right but having played with the euro beam deflector fitted internally that just adds a diagonal line at approx 5° off the horizontal

Are they aftermarket lights?

Best option with the Z4 is not to drive at night.

That solves the crap headlight issue instantly!

Definitely not the correct pattern; looks as if the bulbs may have been fitted incorrectly? Or the euro flaps are ‘on’ or the projectors are damaged.

Here's a (bad) pic of the lights. Best I could do in the rain.

OEM lci bi-xenons then.
No idea why the pattern looks like wave crests! Have you changed bulbs recently?

Correct question, i think ive seen this before with aftermarket LED bulbs.
They have also (can) have this kind of spot. Only facing (vertical to the ground) and not horizontal ;).

First time out in the dark since buying it. Is bulb access the same as on the halogen projectors I had previously?

Yes mate, access panel at the back. From inside the wheel arch.

The headlight bodies are pretty much identical for halogen and xenon.

Am I right that their is an electrocution issue with xenon. Should I try a new bulb or have a look see first? Thank you.

Take a look first, won’t cost you anything. Prob an LED bulb like someone mentioned.

Electrically it’s working so don’t think that’s the issue. It’s also on R and L light. If it was an isolated issue it would just be on one side… so most likely bulb… but take a look and see first :)

So long as the lights and ignition have been off for a few minutes I would not have an issue with playing around with the bulbs and ballast.

Sorry been at the London marathon should both bulbs be xenon or just low beam?

Your xenon just has the one bulb.

If you've had a poke around a halogen unit before, then basically there is no "main beam" in the bi-xenon. In the unit, there is a single bulb held within the single projector. This functions for both main and dipped beams. AFAIK anyway. Happy to be corrected :)
