X4: BMW What are you doing?

I like that more then an x6.

But seems pointless still!

Not a fan of X anything to be honest. If I wanted that sort of car, would have to be a LR discovery or a Range Rover
 
Looks good to me. Style and performance with some good load carrying capacity, I'd look at it next time I change.
 
They've made a smaller X6 (essentially)

The X6 wasn't a car that boasted interior space to begin with.

I love the styling, but the idea of a smaller x6 seems slightly illogical to me.

With that said, I was skeptical about the Nissan Juke, and well that's proved to be somewhat popular (at least around where I live)
 
They'll sell bucketloads I expect if the price is ok.

BMW have been hurt for years in the uk by Audi and their Quattro system, as BMW have constantly (until now) refused to bring in their standard models with 4wd into the uk.

Europe has had the 'ix' models for years.
 
I think taht the styling cues that are appearing on the new BMWs is really promising. The 4 series, this x4, i8 etc all bode well for a good z2 and z4 next generation.

I think that the E89-E92 styles are starting to look a little dated against some of the newest competitors. I like the details like the new grille, door mirrors etc.

- it looks like BMW are raising their game in terms of effort to some styling details. I like it.
 
I like the styling, although the front grills couldnt be any less stolen off a vw scirocco.

Will have to wait to see what the interior space is like but if its the same as a current 3 series it should be fine and I never liked the X6 anyway.
 
I think its nice.

Looks exactly like an X6.

At least its not like the transition from the X3 to the X1 where no one understood what was going on.
 
I like it, great styling except I'm still not 100% convinced by the actual shape of the headlights on the new cars, little bit bland maybe?

Love the DRL detailing tho!

I can't see the purpose either, but it's a definite looker, for an SUV.

But then "all art is quite useless" - Oscar Wilde.
 
Personally I think that's BMW looking to make an Evoque competitor in the market. As yet, it's reasonably unchallenged. It would be interesting to see of they will offer a 2 door as well. It's a really good lookimg car. Better than the X6 and any 3 or 5 GT.

I'll put my bullet proof flame suit on for this one. As I'm very opinionated on the SUV subject. :evil:

First. I think the idea of a standard car with an added 4WD system such as the Audi quattro or BMW 3-5 Xi's is brilliant. But these X BMW's, Audi Q7's and the like are total rubbish. If you want a 4X4 that is off road capable then one should buy one. If you only need a street vehicle with a bit better traction and one doesn't drive through the outback. Then the standard cars with the added 4WD is the ticket.

While there is nothing inherently wrong with the SUV as a vehicle. The main problem are the drivers of such SUV's along with the way they are marketed to the folks. More than a few (but not all) SUV owners THINK they can go fast on ice and snow because of the 4WD. Most street based SUV drivers haven't a clue what 4WD can and can't do. So they normally revert to the idea that I'm in a high profile SUV and I'm invincible so therefore I will go fast. Or the biggest issue that I have seen. With the bit of added traction. SUV drivers tend to pull out in front of others. Of course the TV adverts showing the latest SUV climbing a vertical wall or the fact that they normally come shod with 255/30/19 pilot sports tyres doesn't help the clueless masses that buy these either.
