I,m on a motoring downside crusade over the coming months hopefully to mirror my worklife downside
. Looking at the petrol X3 on 54/55 era for mrs w family stuff & wondered if anyone had experience ?
Car will do 40/50 miles a week mainly short journeys with 4/5 Normandy trips a year .
My trusted indy has no nightmare stories to tell me & private sales seem to offer a lot  so it could be in the frame ?

I've got the 2.5 petrol automatic.
It's been fine so far, but I had to replace the set of tires after one needed repla ing as the transfer box is a little sensitive to tyre size and condition.
It's a little harsh, due to having the sport suspension, but my wife loves it

Indy did say to look for 4 matching tyres /matching even treadware as transfer box can be affected but not a major job ?
Also said they were as reliable & as easy to work on / similar part prices to my Z4 or 3 series ?

The motor is the same as in my z4, abet a 2.5 ltr. I've got to renew the rocker over gasket, so ill let you know how accessible everything is after that...
The x3 is also good for a LPG conversion, more so than the v8 in the x5. According to my local dealer :)
One issue to look out for is the mirror wiring creating problems for the windows alarm etc
