Sorry for the late update - this happened on the morning i was due to head out to Isle of Wight for a week getaway and its been manic since iv been back.
We were going to take the zed with us to enjoy top down driving around the isle (and what lovely driving there is too!). We had the ferry booked and were all set for an early start when I noticed the horror.
We didn’t want to wait around and spoil our holiday so a quick call to the police to report the incident. I also had to find an alternative car at very short notice.... I called up my buddy and all he had was a ford lux estate….far from the ideal car to enjoy the winding roads of IOW

We got back from IOW on Friday and back to seeing the zed in pain.
Fortunately I had purchased a hard top cover from 85genius in preparation for a wet winter a few weeks back. Unfortunately I hadn’t yet managed to collect it so I had a very long drive on Saturday from London to Huddersfield. Somehow top down driving on 180 miles of motorways isn’t as fun.
I’ve got the hardtop installed now and the zed is my daily driver so it’s back on the road. I will need to assess my options for having the roof repaired. I haven’t yet managed to call my insurance but I have a police report to support my claim. I’ve seen a few 2nd hand soft tops on Ebay which might be an option. Is the soft top fabric/canvas replaceable on these hoods? The mechanism is working fine and it seems a shame to chuck it in the bin.
Number5 - thanks for the very generous offer and I will be in touch once I decide what route to go down for the repair. Funds are a little tight at the moment and I also need to source a roof I am satisfied with before planning a weekend to Bristol around your availability.
To rub salt into the wound, I had only just completed a whole 3 part Renovo roof clean/ colour/ waterproof on the hood
I love this car but it can be a pain at times!
