Wye Valley Run 10th Jan (& again 15th!)

I know its late, but its a last minute thing today and we've been waiting on the weather window, then decided, Sod it, we'll go anyway..

Spikey and myself are going to do the Wye Valley run tomorrow morning. 8am meet at Aust Services (M48) or be lurking by Chepstow Racecourse about 8:15 and if we spot you we'll stop for you on the way past.

It will be about a 90 minute run with breakfast somewhere in Chepstow about 10am

Would be nice to see a few faces if you pick this up overnight and fancy it !

:driving:

Just Spikey and I turned out today, so apologies for the late call. We dont normally go out in the rain, but we were desperate to get out this week, especially as my Winter Zed needed a run out.

We had a good clear run over the top of the Valley from Chepstow up to Monmouth, then came back down the Wye which is bursting its banks at the moment. Then we had a second a loop up over St Briavels to Lydney and back to Chepstow for some healthy Porridge !!

Roads were pleasantly empty today with all sensible people still in bed !

A bit dark and gloomy

Spikey presssed the Ejector button..

Now for some serious cleaning...

Yes, and I need to re-check my wheel nuts a few miles in as they'd worked loose on the front today. I wondered what the vibration was approaching home this morning. I thought Id lost a wheel weight, but if Id waited Id have lost a wheel instead !

Yes sorry it was a late one. We text a few of our regular crowd and it was even too late for them.

Bugger only just spotted this. Had a house to paint though, so could not have made it up there. Where are you to next weekend, if I'm done painting may be able to make it. :)

Happy to do a weather trade next time - was blue skies and glorious in the SE and all the jobs I had to do were indoors.

You didnt miss too much Buzy. The roads were as wet as a fish's pocket. Often got halfway round a bend to find a complete stream flowing across the tarmac ! (Spikey had to change his pants on one occasion !!)
The bonus was that the roads were quiet, but just in no fit state to progress much.

No plans for next weekend as yet, but how is your planning coming along with your Lands End to John O Groats, Forum Zed trip ? :poke: ( See the "Europe 2016" thread )

Done LE to JoG on a push bike. Too easy in a Car. :P

Not done all of Europe though.

I get a couple of Fridays off now and then due to working short lunch hours. I woke up today to clear, crisp blue skies so assuming all my playmates were at work, I went out for a little solo drive, in the winter Zed up through the Wye Valley again.

The river had dropped abit since last weekend but it was still high, due to all the rain further up North.

The roads were a bit slippy. a mixture of greasy surfaces and ice on shady bends possibly, so I took it steady and just enjoyed it.

By the time I stopped at the Abbey on the way back, the car was looking more silver than blue. Very dirty !

I thought a few of you may appreciate these rather than the usual shiny ones !

I also managed to strap the I-phone to the passenger Visor and capture the journey from just passed Chepstow Racecourse to just over Bigswier Bridge, which is about 1/2 of the Wye Valley. We'll do this route on the Eng/Welsh run but in the opposite direction.

My first attempt and I've had to set up a Youtube account, so bear with me - Hope you enjoy it !

Now I'm off to watch the Ospreylia to watch the Rugby (Ospreys v Clermont tonight.)

PS All clean.. Now there's lovely !
