Wuhan Meat Market

Seriously, I don't know where that is, but those aren't Chinese people.

Chinese people only eat pedigree dog breeds, these days (<--- a joke).

This is one food market out of many hundreds all over China and other far eastern countries. It's been like that for generations but it is cruel, unhygienic and disgusting but as someone earlier said it's a source of food and would have to be replaced with something else. Throw in the slaughter of rhinos, elephants, big cats etc and apart from pandas, they see anything that moves as edible or a source of medicine or tonic.
Will this change their culture? I doubt it but one can live in hope.

My Chinese mate just sent me this crazy footage of the Clapham riots.

Now that is messed up!

BTW I didn’t mean for the Pamplona vid to be a comment re animal cruelty (although now I write that is sounds a bit ridiculous that I didn’t make the connection!).

It was more a bunch of educated chaps ranting about a video of “China” that isn’t even of China. I’m totally with you re. human and animal rights violations, but at least try sniff out propaganda before you share it.

There might be markets like that all over China but they need cleaning up or banning, my god the poor sods living there must be desperate to buy a rat that looks like it's been dead for 10 years.

Tim.

I hear the Chinese government has bowed to pressure and banned the eating of dogs cats snakes and a few other choice delicacies. Lets hope they enforce it, one thing they are normally very good at, so watch this space. :)

It’s just Shenzhen re. eating cats and dogs. The debate re. what is a “pet” or not will rage on for generations.

More significantly, the government has banned illegal wildlife trade, which is a major step. Enforcing it is going to be very difficult until Chinese society as a whole goes through the required cultural shift and the remaining offenders fizzle out due to lack of business/social pressure. It’s happening already, just not very fast, and it’s a positive outcome if coronavirus helps accelerate things.

I suspect a lot of species will be extinct before they change deep rooted voodoo, until then the black market equivalent will continue to rape the natural world, too little too late. But I truly hope I’m wrong.

China should be made to pay reparations for this - they’ve effectively killed thousands of people and wrecked families all over the world.
Unfortunately this will never happen as the west is so much reliant on their manufacturing capabilities.
