That IS an OEM 'accessory' - used to cost about £150 new IIRC. Looked at one for my first (company) Z as it came without any protection.

You sure?

You would need protection from stray gimps with a wind deflector like that

I have the one that clips into the boot

There's a boot clippy thing for the solid wind deflector? Where pray tell?

Yup, that's what I have on my current Z. I actually rejected it originally because I thought it looked cheap and nasty, despite the price. Strange, because BMW of course never sell anything that looks cheap and nasty...

Sorry JimmyPop... I have nothing against gimps

Jeez - people keep posting before I can !

JonZ4G - on the underside of the boot lid, or should be. If it's not, I have seen mounting kits available alone on eBay IIRC

I spent 6 months driving with the wind deflector permanently in place, roof down or up.

It was like that clip in Gumball rally, or something similar where...

'If it's behind you, it's history' as he rips the rear view mirror off a Ferrari

I couldn't see a thing out of the back :!:

Anyone else drive with it permanently in place?

Got it in right now as I am upping my topless miles owing to the mild weather, but agree that at night combined with dimming mirrors you're almost blind... I usually take it out if I'm expecting to have the roof up for a while, like driving for work when I need to be able to speak on the phone.toying with 5.30am topless tomorrow though, so it's still in place tonight

If I've been on a long drive I sometimes leave it in place when I park up - knowing that I'll need for the next drive (roof always down  ). I'm a bit lazy like that :)

When I was using the car daily I wouldn't leave it in place

I've never removed my OE clip in screen but I do get the top down at every opportunity so long as it's not raining, but it's not my daily drive.

I have my wind deflector on Permenantly (not a gimp one like JP's) doesn't hinder my view at all and also helps to dim down extra bright headlights.

Oi Nosa! That gimp mask helps me get the best out of my 4-pot - shows it who's the boss!
