No idea. This comes across as if he's getting the award for being the first African-American president of the USA. I'll agree that significant, but not that it's prize-worthy. Even at my most optimistic for his administration, I'd call it premature.
Unfortunately this really highlights the political state the novel prize has fall into. Obama may go on to do great things. But apart from becoming the most powerful leader of the world that likes to talk about peace, he's not achieved anything most people could identify and agree with.
Sounds to me like chaps at novel prize pannel are licking a powerful politician's ass to gain popularity for themselves like......
