WTF noisy lumpiness

Help please Z4 forumers......

My cars been running very sweet but today it's all changed..

On my 50 mile run into the office about 15 miles in I started to get this random judder through the steering wheel seemed connected to the wheels in my limited knowledge. So I pulled over to check it out and could smell clutch for some reason. Didn't turn the engine off and had no lights on, so continued to drive to work next 20 miles it was fine and then the juddering started again but after a mile it went away.

Same happened on the way home.... 3 miles 20miles 40miles .!?!?!?

I have no clue as to what this is and don't even know where to start searching so am appealing for help.

Would a sticking caliper do this?-may help to feel the wheels and see if any of them are hot if/when it does it again.
 
Yeah the rear wheel was a bit warm, thing is it jut comes from nowhere ie cruising and then the judder comes in ? May be brakes though not clutch good call.
 
Could it be hand break sticking on or something needing adjusting? If they are rubbing heating up sticking then freeing off?? Just a suggestion?
