Perhaps some of you do, and kept this bit to yourself,....heh, well I thought it was cool.
Two and a half years in.....to discover.
So I was waxing the ass end of my Coupe, as some of us like to try to take care of our little possessions of awesomeness and make them glisten and sparkle like the diamonds they are. I have waxed this car many a time, and always when I got to the badge I would push it in to get to the recess of the cracks as left wax glares at me, must be an OCD.
Any way as I press it in, my boot cycled for unlock. Wtf? It never did it before so I paused for a moment. Pulled the boot lid and up she came. Dropped it and it locked. So I thought man that sucks balls if it's that easy to get in and steal one. So I pressed lock on my key fob and pressed the badge in.... nothing. Pressed unlock one time on the key fob and pressed the badge in, nothing. Pressed unlock again and now both doors are unlocked and pressed in the badge, it cycled.
Anyway, I never knew I could do that. But there's a cool thing to this story.
Always wen I pressed the button in the cabin or on the key fob, the lock mechanism on the boot always cycled 3 or 4 times. Sometime it would unlock, sometimes it wouldn't. Now it activates the 1st time every time, so I'm going to guess the switch in the badge was kind of stuck?
Who would have thought a problem I was not looking forward to working on was due to something I did not know. Or perhaps, I just did not see it in the manual.
Live and learn...
Happy Z4'ing.
