Chaps,

I've decided to get the Z4 a go!

I'm between cars at the moment and having owned Boxsters etc I'm keen to give the Z4 a try! Looks like there's a fair community too!

Struggling a bit with pricing at the moment though!

I've been to see a 2003 53 3.0 SE today with 73k and FBMWSH, 4 owners etc from a large UK franchised dealer and could have walked away with it for......£5850!! Needed the alloys doing and the interior was a little tatty, but certainly well priced!! Didn't want to buy the first that I'd seen though!

Looks like the private prices are all over the place too!

I'm not too fussed on spec or colour (as standard as possible would be nice though).

Keen to hear what's out there!

Thanks,

Scott

That seems incredibly cheap - you sure nothing else was amiss?

The cheapest Z4 3.0i's on Pistonheads are currently starting at around £6,000 :

http://pistonheads.com/sales/list.asp?s=272&p=&d=0&min=&max=&y1=&y2=&txt=3.0i&px=&xsl=list&pagesize=15&filter=TP&o=q&pc=

Either they bought that one for almost nothing, or it has the worst spec / colour combo known to man - which is it ? :)

The 3.0 is awesome ive had allsorts of 2 seaters elises, etc but the zed can be used everyday and even great on fuel.
I was in my mates boxster 2.7 2006 and it felt heavy and not that nippy not a patch on my z4 when i had it.
Just thinking of getting another :driving:

Welcome to the forum Sigmaf

Does seem cheap at £5850...... Did it have many options? Was it in good condition?

£6-£7k would seem more normal for a car with that mileage. However, as you've noticed, prices do vary a lot.

Happy hunting, hope you get a good one :driving:

Hi Scott,

I am toying with the idea of selling my 2003 3.0 silver grey zed. It has currently done around 45k miles, it's going in for inspection 2 on monday at Cooper Colchester BMW. All issues i have had since i bought it has been documented on the forum pretty well. Just minor issues with ignition coil, tire pressure warning (changed all tires to non-runflats now). I am the fourth owner...bit stupid on my part as the dealer told me two previous owner when i bought it and i failed to check it properly amidst the excitement of getting my first zed. Despite this the car is faultless. Unfortunatley need something with four seats. If you are interested let me know.

Regards
SGRG

Hi chaps,

This is the car:

http://pistonheads.com/sales/3264692.htm

It's now @ £6500 at the dealership and without any px/finance or prep work we agreed on £5850 - with a view to my mulling it over for a few days.

As I'm new to the Z4 not really sure on spec, however I assume fairly basic (no NAV, Sport leather etc). The bodywork was clean though (usual nose chips, but all the paint was correct/panel gaps/tyres were all good etc.

SGRG - do drop me a line re. your car and what sort of price you're looking for?

Cheers,

Hunting's the best part... why get it over so quick?

At that milage, check the front bushes aren't worn out... ie find an uneven road & see if she has a tendency to go her own way...

So pls, don't buy the first one u see as there's a few good things u shld make sure it has in extras (as well as history) such as (in my opinion):
1. Xenons
2. M sport seats
3. Heated seats
4. Carver amp & 6 cd changer
5. 108s or elipsoid alloys

Good to have
6. Auto lights & wipers
7. MFSW
8. Retractable mirrors

Will cause an argument but not worth it
8. Sat Nav - too dated & clunky now agaist a tom-tom
9. The Red Zed seems hard to shift

Best of luck...

I enquired about that car last week. I was put off when the salesman emailed pictures of the service book to me. Details as follows:
PDI 10/10/03
Oil @ 11036 6/10/04 (no dealer stamp)
Inspection 1 @ 25917 9/5/06 (Lister BMW)
Oil @ 38779 20/2/08 (Lister BMW)
Inspection 1 @ 54136 4/8/09 (Non BMW - G C Wathen, Harthill)
Oil @ 64139 17/3/10 (Non BMW - Crossroads Garage, Sheffield)
Inspection 1 @ 73830 2/9/11 (Non BMS - Evans Halshaw Mansfield)

The lack of any inspection 2 and non-specialist independent garages worried me. Personally, I would rather pay a bit more and get a good service history.

I have put a deposit on the Z4 Spud has for sale and pick it up tomorrow.

Yeah, that service history isn't quite correct - the one I've highlighted should've been an Inspection 2. It's not the end of the world as IIRC the main differences between an Insp 1 and Insp 2 are changing the spark plugs (but check that, I've had a couple of beers!). Especially at sub-£6k, that's a fecking bargain if the rest of the car checks out fine.

I have one for sale in this section and on auto trader for 6900. Nice wheels and colour combo full BMW service too

The search continues!!....

The one from Evans Halshaw is still available at £5850.....but, not sure about the missing Inspection II....guess it could just be done a little later?

I've just been offered quite a good deal on another, but, it's from the apparent dreaded Stratstone Harrogate? Looks like I should give those guys a miss?

Keep them coming!!??
