Hi guys,

New here, thanks for the warm welcome in the Newbie section!

Am on the lookout for a 3.0 Z4 roadster, prefer black or silver, but would consider the metallic grey.

Manual or SMG but NOT auto. (Does anyone know if the SMG is the same system as used in the E46 M3's??)

If possible would like to have the sat nav and bluetooth already fitted (but I understand these can be retrofitted??)

Looking to spend between £10-11k max.

If anyone has anything suitable, let me know!!

Cheers all

It's been a loooooooooooooooong week!!!

Of course I meant Z4!! Getting my Z4's and M3's confused

The SMG system works the same way, but is the previous generation, the E46 M3 has SMG II (IIRC).

Main differences in actual use - there are 3 modes of shifting, as opposed to the rocker control on the M3 giving several speeds. You have normal, sports or super-sports (which is a semi-secret mode). The paddles do up and down shifts - whereas the M3 does up right and down left. This is handy if you need to shift one handed, if you're being lazy etc.

Mine is for sale at the moment too ;)

Missed it's 2yr intervals as per stated in the manual for the car.

I argued with BMW over this, as they seem to let them go 2.5 - 3yrs if the mileages are very low like yours.

Not that it seems to effect them, since the slow and steady oil consumption means oil is replaced anyway over those periods :D

Nice looking car!

You'll have to take a slight hit on that one. More than 3 years until the first service is not exactly a selling point.

Cheers for the replies guys, put a deposit down last Sunday on a 54 plate Silver 3.0 with 42k on the clock.... itching to pick her up now with the weather this week!!

This exact thing made me question my bosses SMG Z4 with very low miles.

I contested the problem but she rang BMW and then said to me that they said it was ok... but the manual says not.

The car ran fine still, no problems, as said oil top-ups do keep it fresh over those long periods anyway, but it's not ideal.

I think my car missed a service by 5,000 miles, but it was clearly all heavy motorway use for that part of it's life, so the service was extended anyway (over the 15k mile usual), and clearly traded back in to BMW over-due (who'd pay for INSP2 just before car could go back!?)...
Seems to be running totally fine, and as said, the oil consumption of the M54 seems to mean it'll get a full oil replacement (in theory) every 25,000 miles anyway haha! So it's not THAT bad.

This is what frustrates me with the BMW service schedule, it just confuses more than anything for many!
