WTB: Style 108 Wheels

I'm planning on refinishing them anyway... so i'm not worried about the discoloration, etc. By clean i meant no curb rash, dents, etc.

I wonder if spraying some clear waxoil into the screw holes on the 108's would prevent the corrosion? I'll try that this afternoon after I've cleaned my car.

I still wonder if it's a result of some wheel cleaners? I do find this odd! I have had MINI's for years now (since the BMW ones first came out) and I have never seen corrosion on any of them? :|

It only affects the 108 wheels though, none of the others. I think it is due to the two different metals reacting with eachother.

Very odd that BMW didn't suss that one! There were composite style wheels for the MINI but that sort of thing never happened! :? Not sure if they were true split rim type though.

When I talked to Lepsoms about re furbing them, they said if I wanted the finishe exactly the same, eg laquered polished metal outer rim, and spray finished (or whatever they do!!) the rest, they would not guarantee it, but if they "sprayed" the whole wheel they would. what does that tell you!!

my wheels are not at the stage where they need re furbing, its mainly the inside of the wheel thats got the rot,but saying that there are a few bubbles coming through where the spokes meet the main wheel, love the wheels so ill prolly go down the refurb route ........ or trade the car for erm... well what do i trade it for???
