WTB: Style 108 Wheels

Oh yes ... the 107 and 108 are the best looking wheels for sure. I would just cry when the tell tale signs are bubbling up though ...

Some rust within months ... sometimes a year, I have heard people who have had them for a couple of years before the rust starts.

But rust they will. BMW replaces them without question, usually allowing you to chose any other model without additional costs.

Does anyone have any pics of what would be considered enough for bmw to replace the alloys? I have 108s and am getting staining around the screws but not sure if this is normal or if this is the sort of thing that could be considerd enough to ask for them to be changed?

Probably corrosion due to dissimilar metals being together! Titanium bolts v alloy wheel! Find it odd that BMW didn't suss that one! I'm going to spray protectant oil on the join after I wash the wheels! Prob won't stop it, but it may help.

Do the guys who have this corrosion on the 108's use wheel cleaner? I never use the stuff as it can be too aggressive! It ruined a set of alloys I had on a car once! Just wondering because that could set up the chemical reaction between the 2 metals!

Can't be a big problem as if you search on the net or on other forums there isn't a mention about it? :?

to be fair, most of the problem with mine has been self inflicted by hitting kerbs when first getting used to the car

Ah yes, the idiot marks... I have 3 of them

Would BMW replace them on a 04 Car, as mine have bubbled badly, was looking at getting them re furbed?

Only as goodwill as the warranty has expired. It would help to get all the incidents documented from all the other cars. There are hundreds of them with the wheels replaced, so it won't be that difficult.

10,000 miles and 10 months although car built Aug 06 and so far so good.

Just waiting for the day though.

How about these... Though they're not what I'd call clean http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180219625212
