Hi All,

Having previously owned a 2003 2.5si which I loved (back in 2005), I have been looking on and off at getting another. I regularly come on here and flick through what is being sold but more through desire than intention.

However my current car has just completely died and I HAVE to get another car now, so....

I have a budget of around 5.5 - 6.5k
I would prefer something at least 2.5 litre
I would prefer at most 2007
I would prefer at most 65k miles
Have tried and loved the z4m coupe but feel like a roadster would get me more bonus points with the wife.
I figure I will change the sound system to include a blue tooth set up anyway, so I am not too bothered about the entertainment set up.

Have just test driven a 2007, 62k 2.0 litre which is for sale at 6.8k and I just feel that even if the garage comes down to 6.5k its not overly exciting value for money.

So - am I being unrealistic or do people have any suggestions?

this however is bang on the money and a good buy at your price point imho

Hi Smervus - yep, it's going to be a hard task to find an si with such a mileage at that money. It's also just becoming the worst time to be buying . . . . :(

There are lots of 2.0 litres for sale and you should be able to find a 2.0i Sport for your money (hold out for what you particularly want as there are lots about) but if I were you I'd be patient and see if a well cared for 2006 2.5si comes up - you may get lucky.

The 3.0si is in demand and sought after so can be strong money.

Good luck with your search

Cheers for the responses guys. Will have to check my engine size v dates but I am happy with a 2.5 unless they stopped making them at the age I have asked for!

Mines an '06, 2.5si, 48k on the clock, listed on forum already. Stretch al extra few £££ and you have a nice low mileage facelift Z4 and I will have my share of a deposit on the home I'm buying 8) win win

Move one of your variables of age, mileage and engine a fair bit and get a decent car.
My view is that cars that just fit the criteria at the top of a budget are often poor spec or less cared for examples.

I'd drop the age criteria and get an older car (as its all about condition on 10 year old cars) unless you want facelift, then as you mentioned drop the engine size.

You'll regret it to buy a 2007, 2.0 even with nice spec.

I'd agree with phil (cj). Get an older better spec car than trying to push your budget to its limits.

Then again for a 2.5 si you could do worse than this
