WTB floor jack

Since our cars are quite low (mine has optional sport, so even lower), does anyone know what is the minimum clearance we need to get when purchasing a hydraulic floor jack? I noticed most on the market are 5 1/2", which seems too high to start.

Thanks for helping me out.
 
Decent piece of 2 by 4.

Drive tyres onto it and then a normal jack should fit under the car. :thumbsup:

Alternatively splash out on a flash low level jack. :thumbsdown:
 
I got a long reach floor jack with 2 1/2" of clearance. With this one I can reach under the front end to the jack point under the engine and lift the whole front end at once. Very nice for placing jack stands under the normal side jack points

Omega Low Profile floor jack

This is not a portable jack however - somewhere around 95 lbs. I got mine when Tooltopia was selling it for about $270 with free shipping. They have raised their price since then.
