Wrong parts I think

As I'm about to swap the front bumper for facelift I thought I would get some spare push-in wheel arch clips from bmw. Only trouble is now I've got them home I think they're the wrong ones. They've given me what look like rivits that pull through not push in. Anyone know which ones I should have cos parts man was most confused.com

Ah thanks Bing. Perhaps I have got the right parts then. Ill check my part numbers but I'm sure mine are the blind rivits. Assume they are put in with a standard rivit gun as they are only plastic. So could I of had either these OR the push-in type then?

On the ones I got the push in bit is just a short plastic rod that pushes through to get them off. Think they come in a bag with the rivets and pins separate. The first one with the 'pin head' on the top looks like what secures the side skirt on underneath (having done Jem's skirts recently). A small hammer will be enough for both, IIRC I just used my thumb on the arch liner ones.

To get the old arch liner rivets out I just pushed the rods through with a very narrow screw driver.

Mine are part number 07 14 7 172 274 which is blind rivit
Ah I think they pull through then snap off leaving just a short pin

Thats correct, but you just push the pin in flush to fit. To remove you thrn push the pin right through.

No special tools required.

Actually, just looked at my spares in the garage, you are right - snap the pin off, fit the rivet then push the pin in

I've got 10 so a couple if spares. I've just pulled the plastic pin through by hand (not on car) and it deforms the back like a rivit should which leaves about 30mm sticking out the front which is now locked in place. If this is then snapped off that makes them single use not reusable.

I managed to push them all the way in without trimming. I am sure I reused some of mine, the only problem being finding the pins once I pushed them through. Anyhoo, however you do it - sorted

Sounds like you have the ones that are fitted to the bottom of the skirts or the rear bumper.

IF they have a head on the pins then just pull them out to remove.
