Written off because of headlights!

If someone is happy to do the work and knows what they are doing I'd happily pay the going rate to keep it going.

Drop me a message if you want help. I’m just outside Newcastle.

@street I sent you a message

MOT is due in June so got a while to sort :)

Contacted quarry motors for a quote for headlights etc.

Which does say halogen, but apparently aren't compatible. They worked but the indicators thought they were always off and flashed quickly.
They're totally compatible if not installed by an idiot. I am sure you could do a better job yourself; but you may have to spend some cash on wiring repair. Simple but time consuming to do properly, hence why garages/'electricians' won't.

Those lights have a load resistor under the headlight to mimic the second bulb the OE sets use. The simple solution is to code out the bulb checks.

I have been promised a set of Headlights as the chap has sold his car and it’s among some spares he is giving to me ,so if you patient for a few days ,I will check them and you can can have them for a nominal price .🤔😁👍

Have to admit I'm overwhelmed by the amount of help I have had!

Umfaan hopefully some of the lights I have are salvageable, but if not I'll take you up on the offer! :driving:

Interesting!
Is coding out the bulb checks the recommended way to go here then? Or are there downsides.

Would this mean that if a bulb actually goes out it wouldn't tell me.

Its being looked at this weekend, hopefully salvageable with the headlights i currently have.

As an update, I looked at the wires and the garage that had them left them a right state - exposed wires that when moved would connect to each other and sparks come off. I've unplugged the fuses for the lights and can't drive in the dark until they're back on.

Yes, if you code out the checks that's the only disadvantage. But you can do it on a per light basis, e.g. just front indicator. I personally prefer that to having a resistor generating heat to fool the computer.
