Wrinkly A-pillar trim

I’m still trawling the classifieds to find my Z4 roadster. I’ve noticed on one advert that the A-pillar trim has gone all wrinkly. Is this a common issue on these?

Not as far as I am aware, I always figured it was just heat/sun but I’m happy to proven wrong by another forum member.

Can you show a pic of this? It's not something I'm aware of, but mine's a bit of a garage queen :D.

That actually sounds like a positive.

Why?

Well it must have leather A pillars, visors and door cards which were not a cheap option. Sorting the leather out should be easy.

Very common if the car has seen lots of sun. Which it should have!

Also very easy to remove the trim and rectify the wrinkles. You will just need a can of spray adhesive and a hair dryer.

All in all, nowt to worry about then by the sound of things!

The car does have extended leather option, so maybe that did extend to the A-pillars too?

My new to me car has extended leather which is looking a bit saggy on the A-pillars. Does anyone have a guide to removing the A-pillar trim?

Yep, done that on mine. Take the sun visors off, take the horizontal part off and then the A pillars just slide up

I used heat and glue to stretch the leather and glue it back

Hi pvr,
I have the 3 pieces off the car, thanks, and some spray glue handy.
What did you use as the heat source, hairdryer OK?
The leather seems to be quite stiff where it has detached. Did you do anything to soften it?
Many thanks,
Ben

A hair dryer should work fine. The heat makes the leather more soft and easier to work with. Before that, it does feel like you are working with cardboard.

I had done all the leather cleaning and treatment beforehand trying to get that sickly sweet smell out that the pre sales derailed seemed to have used.
