Picked up a little winter blanket, not sure if I like hiding it away!
Feel it's a little loose along the sides if there's a strong wind, anybody else got one?

Both car and cover are spotless. Washed car today and although cover was advertised as used I'm not sure it ever has been. Think I got a bargain at £60.

thats a good price, i never spotted it, was it ebay?

Yeah :D ebay last weekend, think previous one went for £85 and looked well used so I'm happy with it!
Just seems strange looking outside and not seeing miss shiny.

Be careful with these car covers. In winter when it freezes ice can form between cover and car and will pull paint of the plastic body components particularly if you try and remove cover to use car.

Thanks for the tip about the ice  if it's that icy she probably won't be going anywhere but it's useful info

I would never use a cover again. We had a Stormforce 4 cover which was meant to be breathable. My Supra was outside for 3 years with the cover and the issues we had were frustrating and expensive.

Wind was an issue, even through there were straps going underneath. Moisture retained between the car and cover over the winter months also caused the lacquer to crack on my bonnet and roof. I had the best of intentions for my car and ultimately ended up ruining it and having to have the roof and bonnet re-sprayed. Car was always clean and dry when the cover was put on.

Compared to the odd time it saved the car from bird crap, the overall experience wasn't good.

I've been using car covers for years now and I've not had a problem with them, just make sure they are breathable and a tight fit current cover I use is from Halfords and is there medium size cover which is a perfect tight fit for the Z4 and has 3 straps that go underneath so no chance of blowing away. As mentioned earlier make sure car is perfectly clean and I have always give my cars a good waxing before the cover goes on for the winter.

I wonder if having a full cover might be better than a heavy half cover? I guess letting air circulate from time to time might help. Wondered what I was going to see when I read the title

Also gave the car a quick wax today  the fit seems tight back and front but as its the proper BMW one for the Zed it should be a good fit, it's got vents both sides just before roof level so should be able to breath ok, it just seems a little loose along the bottom at the sides but perhaps I can tighten up the draw cord a little more.

Yep I think a good wax if using a car cover is key to not getting the paintwork damaged. As mentioned before I've been using full car covers now for over 25 years with no problems.

I've been using a Cabrioshield which has been great at keeping the roof clean but as my car is parked close to trees I'm getting a lot of sap spots on the bonnet and boot and now that autumn is here I want to keep the leaves off.

I could mibbee sell the house and move to one with a garage but not sure J would agree :?

Looks like a spaceship. 8) Good timing, may look more like a pile of leaves by spring.

I have a stormforce and it fits better than your cover, the straps keep it in place. I removed it the other day (MOT time) and although the outside of the cover was wet, the car was dry and as clean as a whistle. My MR2 has a Halfords Tyvek cover and that works great too.

Here's my Z with the Halfords car cover, the medium size is perfect for the Z4 nice and tight and with 3 securing straps that go underneath. Used one of these on my TT for nearly 4 years with no problems till I finally had a garage built

Here's a pic of the Z4 covered up
