yes its another one, !!! bought my 08 2.0 sport in Dec, private sale. 33.000 on clock FBMWSH with 7 months comprehensive warranty left on it. roof went up and down ok when i bought it, i think!!! tried it for the first time in the garage this morning and worked but a bit noisy, so i thought as i have a shop next to a bmw garage in cambridge i would pop it in, the mech tried it and it wont even come down , gutted, hope my comprehensive cover will cover it as i guess there not cheap to fix, it sounds like BMW have a big fault with these. :(

My warranty didn't :(

Buried in the small print, it stated that convertible roof motors were explicitly excluded.

Personally I think BMW should contribute as it is a clear design fault in that a) the drain holes can get blocked and b) clearing them is not a maintenance activity.

And besides, what idiot engineer decided to put a hydro electric motor in a compartment that can get water in it? The motor should have been put in the boot; thus removing any possibility that it will get wet and removing the requirement for any sound proofing! The hydro lines are such small bore they could easily have gone through the rear bulkhead.

Sometimes I do wonder about German Engineering :headbang:
