Would you trade your coupe for a sDrive 35i

As per title would you trade your coupe for a 35i? Is there anybody out there who has the experience of driving both?

My good lady had an E89 2.3 I think it was, before her current coupe. She would definitely trade for another e89......if she can find the right 35i then even better.

Nothing against the coupe as its a fantastic car, she wants something a little more 'comfortable' and 'modern' what ever that means.

Looked good and hard on the forum then

Two topics from DLH in the last week doing exactly that!

I sold my e86 3.0si sport 2 years ago & bought my e89. No regrets. Loved my coupe but 35is is perfect all rounder. Adaptive suspension is fantastic. Sound is epic.

Thank s for the responses.

I've got my eye on a 2009 (59) car with 72K on the clock 1 previous owner & FBMWSH, it's got sat nav, 19 inch wheels , heated seats & full leather which I assume are all standard on an sDrive model.
The cars advertised at £15500 which I thought was a reasonable price, do you think the price is right & would you be concerned with the milage?

Oh & it comes with a 12 m BMW warranty.

What he is trying to say is all E89s are labeled 'sDrive' from the 18 to the 35is. That part means nothing really and not too many options are put into these cars as standard. What does matter is trim level a M Sport with its better styling is more desirable than non M Sport models.

As for 'options' as standard.........that'll be the leather seats then and even then depending on the finish they may have been upgraded. Standard leather is Kansas but you could go for nice, smooth and soft Nappa at a cost. If it's 'full leather' do you mean extended leather? Again option.

The rest are all options. Doesn't come with Satnav (the current MY16 does but it's basic and before that it was a £2k plus option IIRC) heated seats are an option and stabdard supplied wheels are 18 inches so 19 are an upgraded option.

Ideally you would need to post a link or of you know the reg look it up on a vindecoder and get the build spec for that car.

With that millage I'm sure you could wangle something off.

Why would millage be an issue? Is it going to be a daily driver? BMW will cover it in the first year, however if you extend the warranty after 1 year some things will no longer be covered due to the millage. I can't see anything wrong with the millage personally as long as it's been serviced when it's supposed to and has been looked after.

it does, it means rear wheel drive, compared to X drive which is 4wd. although not an option on the Z4, it still denotes the driven wheels.

hence the X1 S drive etc.

Oh well I'm now the proud owner of this or will be once t's been prepared.

Hopefully it will give me as much fun as the coupe.

I understand that but on the E89 it is pointless as they don't do an XDrive varient. Never have done and never will do. Maybe in future Z models but not the E89 when it's heading towards replacement.

BMW specify sDrive on the X1 to distinguish between the 4 wheel drive XDrive system and the 2 wheel sDrive system. That's needed because people see the X series as a 4 wheel drive based SUV when infact certain Modles are being made as 2 or 4 wheel.

You can buy a 1, 2, 3 series etc as a XDrive varient and its labeled as such but buy it as a run of the mill, classic rear wheel drive BMW and its not called sDrive. It's just 320d SE for example not 320d sDrive SE but buy an XDrive version and its 320d XDrive SE. So there is no need to add it to the name of the Z4. It's a complete waste of time and it also in this case shows that buyers don't actually realise A) what it means and B) it's not a trim level. The car will still be a SE, Sport, M Sport etc.

Looks good, for the price quoted but I would have expected a M Sport model but as long as you are happy that's the main thing.

Also do be aware that the wheels fitted are more prone to cracking than others so you may wish to inspect them or ask them to do a run out test to confirm they are in tip top condition.

If you do a search on 296 alloys you will find some topics on it.

I only explained as you said it means nothing, i wasn't to know you understood what it meant.

I wouldn't, purely for the fact that the new Z4 doesn't come in coupe form, and I bought a coupe as I'll never have the top down anyway. So why pay and carry the weight for something you'll never use.

If I wanted a 'sporty' small car with the 35 engine, I'd go for a 235M or 435M - although I'd not swap my Z4MC for either.

Thanks for that advice I will make sure I inspect them very carefully, I know one of the wheels is to be replaced & the other are going to be refurb due to kerb damage.

Cheers.
