Would you swap yours for a Z4M ?

I still find myself drawn to the e86 Z4M coupe, she's a good looking beast with a legendary engine and transmission setup.. Part of me misses the rawness of my old e85 3.0 and can only imagine that in a lighter stiffer shell with more power.. Though I think I'd miss the comfy suspension of my 35i.. I still look at the adverts for the Z4M coupes.. Forget the economy btw that's boring stuff.. We're talking a drivers car here..

Would you swap?

Hmm perhaps I posed this question in the wrong area then as most e89 owners appear to be comfort oriented rather than performance? I still class the e89 as a sportscar but perhaps most buy it for appearances?

As all have no doubt concluded by now, for me a sportscar should have performance...

I'd go with the E89; especially as you have the 35i!

You'd be mad to change to an M, in my opinion.

I've thought the same thing....I'd get into a Z4MC....

I love the harsh ride, feeling every dip in the road, catching the steering when it grabs a camber, having to be 'careful' pulling away in the wet and going round corners too quickly - its the overall 'raw-ness' and performance that sold me on the e85 and I don't think I'll ever want to change it! Don't get me wrong, I really like the e89, but the sporty feeling isn't there (as much as the e85/86).

Do I have to swap? Can I have both?

I'd like an M!

I've thought the same for a while but its not my name on the V5 its Rach's.

Now though I've started playing with the sport button and that makes it seem plenty fast enough.

The question is why do you all feel the e89 (35i) would be a better car to own than the Z4M?

It's just as fast, without the costs. It's newer, and looks it (and feels it). It's a lot easier to tune, should you get bored.

I love my 35i....better looking roof up, I cannot see a better looking car this side of a 991....I'd pass up a Vantage and R8.....the E89 just looks stunning...

A remap would make it an awful lot faster than an E86 ///M, it has the best of both worlds with the convertible hardtop and is a current model.

Yup, a tuned 35i is a scud. However E85/6M owners will comment about the better handling and other M characteristics which separate the Z4M from other Z models and you know what there totally right. But and it's a big but from me in the real world drivers don't exploit the handling characteristics of the M platform (they may like to think they do), that's why the 335i 335d and 35i are the better all around choices IMHO.

Maniac from a 35i youve surely got to be thinking R35 mate? :D

nope if i had a 35i, i wouldnt swap it for a m coupe....... i prefer my e89 to my coupe as the e89 is a better all round car and if the performance was on par with the coupe, then the coupe with lose out on all counts

the 35i can be tuned to be quicker than an m in a straight line, so why trade down on looks also with the dct, gear changes would be a lot quicker too

I drove both before I swapped my E85 and I've made my choice! Best car I've ever owned and over 2 years later every drive is still an occasion and I still glance back at it when I've parked it up. Nothing this side of a GT3 would tempt me out of it (well maybe the new Exige S). Sure there are quicker cars out there now but they don't have the M factor.

Looks better.
Coupe & convertible in one.
More comfortable ride, car is more of a cruising GT than a track car.
Fun enough to whip around in canyon runs.
Warranty, this is a BMW after all.
