Would you change your ZM for a R8??

I'll offer him 32k for the R8 if you don't take it. lol 
I wouldn't change for an R8. The V8 would definitely tempt me. I like the Z4M as before I bought mine I had only ever seen 1 or 2, I have seen several R8s. In my opinion it's not as special, at least not where I live, it seems everyone in Essex wants to prance around in a white one. The V10 is maybe another discussion, although if I had the money to buy the V10 I wouldn't be buying an Audi.

There are a lot of blinkered replies on here by people who think their zed is the best thing since sliced bread (especially some of the M owners). But if the R8 is in as good nick or better than your zed its not even worth asking the question.
Come on an R8 or a Z4 M (if there were such a thing a a brand new Z4 M and it was a choice between the two then maybe) do me a favour!!
I'd like to see those on here that are saying they'd have the zed have the two cars in front of them, then see who turns down the Audi.....there won't be many, unless the looney bin is short of a few members!!
I thought the responses were very logical. Most said they'd swap and of the few that said no most said that they'd do it for the V10 not the V8. I stand by my view. It's a great car and i actually really like it, who knows if i was wealthier i might have even bought one instead of my M but performance wise it won't be that much of a step up from my M...

Depends whether you're more bothered about what people think of you or more bothered about what you like. I think the r8 looks like a dolphin side on. It's fugly. Holds zero interest.
If I had a straight choice between a Z4M and a V8 R8 (or a V10 for that matter) of course I'd take the R8 but it would be on PH classifieds within days so I could use the extra dosh to buy something I actually liked.
All just personal opinion but I think the R8 is meh. Just doesn't do it for me, never has. Sorry.

The question isnt Z4M vs R8, it's 'would you trade in your Z4M and pay some significant cash to get a V8 R8'. To that i think the answer is no (for me), as if i were to do it, i'd go for the V10 to get the performance gains - but at that money there are a few cars in the running (GT3's, R8s, Gallardos etc). However this particular V8 R8 is a bargain, and is probably worth the money - as you could easily change your mind and turn a profit a few months later if you so choose. It makes financial man-maths sense, and it's in no way a downgrade - so if you drive it and like it, and happen to have a load of dosh lying around - why not. It's all about OP's test drive experience really 
The Z4 will never be a classic, the Z4M in pristine condition may follow the footsteps of some M3's and the Z3MC but i'd be surprised if anyone had bought it for that reason.

I have owned 2 M Coupe's and a E89 and other than every one I know asking me why I was driving my wifes car (which really #issed me of) the E89 was a very nice car, But they are no where near as special as a M coupe and if your talking about wasting £10,000 on up grading the M coupe performance, That's about the amount you would loose in depreciation the day you drove your E89 out of the showroom,
The R8's are nice but I think I would prefer keeping my car and the extra £15,000 in my bank, How ever I would defo buy one for 30k if I got the chance and keep it for a few months to say I had owned one then make a bit of profit on it,

I have drove a r8 in anger on a track quite a few times as my mate has a 07 in black .r8 and my mzr are both great cars .but it would have to be r8 every time I am looking at r8 at the moment 40 k plus still cant find the right one .30 k a bargain

The R8 has alot of supercar characteristics. very light flywheel, massive standard brakes with excellent feel, electronic exhaust flaps that open at 4k rpm, electronic dampening, LED headlamps, self depolying spoiler....ect. all of these things make the car feel superior, and the finish is beyond many cars in its price range. it turns heads everywhere. especially in the red/carbon/titanium package.
the z4m feel more sluggish at low revs, but only when driving the r8 for a prolonged period of time. the entire driving expeiriance in the z4m is much more raw. the gear changes, steering response, and seating position are all more dramatic. the r8 feels like an a4 sline at low speeds. the z4m on the other hand is more fun on tight twisty turns IMO. the motor in the z4m "feels" more special, especially when its climbing and screaming at 8k.
these are 2 great cars. performance they sit side by side ( my modded z4m actually pulls on the r8). r8 has alot more of a wow factor because of its dimensions and shape and unlike the z4m, is impossible to confuse with a 2.5i or 3.0i. the R8 vs Z4M stock for stock....R8 wins. but there are many things about the z4m that make it feel really special and fun compared to the R8. and if you factor in price point....the Z4M wins.
