would i change MY z4m for an r8?? not even a consideration...... the r8 is a great car but surprisingly ordinary imo, spent alot of time with a v8 r8 model, which was also not a quick as you'd expect either.

I feel that the V8 is not enough of an upgrade over a Z4M. If it was the V10 then that's another thing entirely! Especially in manual!

Take £10-12k upgrading the Z4M and enjoy.

Also, the fact that you see Tulisa and Helen Flanagan pottering around in R8's is a huge turn off for me. Bit of a chav's 'supercar'.

Totally agree, as much as I like the zed design there's no way it's going to become a "classic".

I don't agree, nor disagree (frankly I have no idea), but would be interested to hear why you both are so sure it won't be?

Don't get me wrong, I do like them, just that I would say it takes a lot more to make a "classic". There are quite a few round here and non of them turn heads to be honest. It's a nice design but IMO not a "classic".

OK, makes sense. Not sure I agree with the logic but I understand your point of view. For instance, I doubt an E46 M3 CSL really turns heads, but I'd say that's a shoe-in to become a future classic.

Yeah, I guess... although I suppose there's two kinds of "classic", the general public classic and the petrolhead classic. The E46 M3 CSL is definitely an enthusiasts car rather than a design classic (where my view was coming from). I guess from a petrolhead point of view the engine may sell the zed in the same way as the E46 but I don't think the design will get the same love as the Jag E-type or AC Cobra so many years down the line.

Without a doubt I would be getting the R8 for £30k offered. I have an M currently but the V8 R8 is so much better in pretty much every way - subjective looks aside. Handling, V8 sound track, steering and a lovely gearbox/change with that gate. I know this is a Z4 forum but there are some mental people on here for suggesting to a) keep and prefer the Z or b) throw money - £10/12k down the drain making it better!

Yeh that's a good point, I don't think the Z4M will ever get to the same level as an e-type or AC, I doubt that in 20 years time, it will even be at the same point that the E30 M3 is now.
