Would you change your ZM for a R8??

Tempting, but the R8 is still depreciating like a stone. Definitely a step up in class & panache, but no faster, assuming we are talking a V8 here. Bottom line, buy the one you want the most. 
(As mentioned already, an SC would be a fun way to spend a bit of spare wedge. Plus give you something really special and really quick.)

Sounds bad, and I do love my M, but an R8, In a heart beat
Thanks guys for your replies. My heart was set on getting the ess touch, hence making the car quick as feck and individual. However when I was offered this car, it put spanner in the works.
Someone asked for pics, sorry none but its silver and a manual. Provisionally I have agreed in purchasing the car as it will be my only chance of owning a supercar. It also gives me till end of February to sell the M.

I've spent quite a bit of time driving the V8 R8 and it is an awesome car- a really useable 'supercar' and at that price I would certainly go for it considering a quick look on PH suggests you'd need £40k plus to get into one that hasn't previously had an off.
If a friend offered me a well-looked after, reasonable mileage example at £30k I'd definitely have a hard time saying no!

I would do it, what an amazing opportunity!
My only issue would be parking it in public places, I, like a lot on here get stressed enough public parking their Zed, with an R8 I'd be petrified to leave it unattended - sadly a magnet for door dinks, dents and jealous keyings.

An R8 V8 isn't even close to being a Supercar. It's a glorified TT. Having said that £30k for one is a good price.
The V8 isn't particularly quick either. No more so than an E92 M3 for example, which was £30k cheaper when new and had an equally nice engine.
The V10 version sounds lovely though.

What are the running costs like?
Personally I prefer the looks of the E86, but theres no denying its a bargain or the sex appeal of the R8.

Don't hold or buy either car as a 'classic'. Drive the one you want...
In 10 years time if you have to own a classic then buy one of whatever is a classic.
