Would this be heresy??

Looking at this thread and a few others last night, this E89 forum is more bitchy than the E85/6!! Calm down!
Stevo

Hey !!! Get back over to the Dark Side aka the E85 forum with the blocked roof drain moaners and leave us to harangue the OP until he comes to his senses. :poke: :D

classic

It is each to their own but when I see someone in a BMW that is quite clearly not an ///M but has the badges on it, it immediately (rightly or wrongly) gives me a negative impression of the personality of the person driving it. I would love an ///M but I'm not going to pretend mine is ///M when it clearly isn't.

I also have a laugh to myself because he/she is sat there, shades on, thinking they cool........ in their 318 ///M.

I couldn't do it personally as I would hate people to look at me like I look at them. The only person your kidding is yourself as those who know what an ///M is will know yours isn't. Those who don't know what an ///M is wont even notice the badge.

So you like pretending something isn't what it really is? As the above poster says, putting M badges on a non-M car is a way of telling every one you're a billy bullshitter. :?

I can't think of anything worse, because it's what it represents - love the car for what it is. The first analogy that comes to my mind is picking up a girl in a bar and telling her you have a "huge cock" when you don't. Ultimately, nothing good can come of it because if you get what you want she'll find out anyway, then rip you to pieces... like putting an M badge on a 23i and then being laughed at.

There is a guy down the road with "S6" on his pile of shite A6 diesel ( no doubt with intergalactic mileage ), faded paint, fake shiny wing mirrors - total cringe.

I also cringe when people see my kick plates and say "oh it's the M one", and I have to say... no, it's a 35is, there is no such thing. "Why do you have the M badge then?" :headbang:

The fact that you even started a thread titled "Would this be heresy??", tells me you must be having a wind up, because why else start the thread? Good one though, you baited a few of us ...

Tbh I hate the M badges on mine and have removed as many as possible as it's simply not an M...

I mean no one would keep warts on a thoroughbred racehorse and de-value it now would they..... :o

Come on, be fair... it's unlikely that anyone owning a Z has got a 'huge cock'... it's all about compensation isn't it... have you seen the length of that bonnet?

Well I would hope I didn't have a huge cock! Apart from the one who sits next to me moaning about the roof being down

definitely going to be tears before bedtime :poke:

I think the best wind up is to put them on your Zed to get this reaction . . . .but then that's Yorkshire humour for you - find out what irritates people and keep going on about it. . . . :poke:

Brilliant this. I've never had so many replies to a thread.
I only meant the foils on the grille . Anyway, I've decided to re-badge it as a VW Diesel now!

That's funny, the first time I showed my e89 to my gf she said "the front is so long, are you trying to prove something?". To me the car just reminds me of Peter perfect from Wacky races! :D

I'm not going to even question why you would want to wear cheap knock off items of inferior quality to impress others, when you could wear something like a Seiko and have quality without pretending to anyone. Knock off bags last 5 minutes, the quality of the leather is s**t.

He's driving a Z4, he doesn't need to pretend, it already looks great!

The equivalent would be wearing a TAG quartz, and putting "automatic" on the dial with some dodgy sticker. :fuelfire:
