I can say that badge engineering has been going on for many years. GT and Lotus badges on Cortinas, Green stripes as a bonus, Cooper an S badges on Mnis, Turbo badges in everything etc etc . So it's nothing new !

I had them on my first 2 litre and I was conned a little by the salesman as it was a Sport (so I thought it was an ///M version of the 2 litre and being new to Zeds he did nothing to dissuade this belief). Like you I liked them and left them on even when I later found out.
(PS It's not like owning the real thing though :lol: )

Surely adding badges gives the car a bit more grunt?!
But in all honesty.. even if I had an ///M, they would promptly be removed from my car. I hate the pesky little things due to people putting them on everything.
