Worth more than gold

Well I took the plunge and ordered a set of index 12 injectors for my 35i from MLperformance.
Like my title says, I'm sure these are worth more than gold, the world's gone mad with its prices.

Cheapest I could get them for was £228 each
The BMW Insured Warranty renewal for my 35iS arrived this morning. £339. :)
Out of curiosity I've just done a BMW Insured Warranty quote and without Assist and £250 excess it's coming out at £457 for the year, the Driveline cover is £333

I got a quote back in September - comprehensive under 60,000 miles with no assist and £250 excess came to £339.00.

I think it might be a renewal-only price, so not available to new customers. I chose not to renew because I found other warranties for a lower price with £0 excess, which also had broader cover and would allow modifications.

Who did you use Tiglon in the end then ?

Mine's only 7/8 years old, so I can't comment on that.

I haven't chosen one yet, it got put on the back burner with other stuff going on, but Protect4Sure seemed the best option I could find - for a little over £300 they were even covering wear and tear items and with zero excess.

When I asked on a 11 year old , 50k miles 35is BMW quoted I think around £500. No mods allowed.

Since I knew I was on an upgrade program the warranty programs were not relevant/ applicable / possible …

Latest update on my Injectors. We managed to do them on Sunday and code the new ones in and I can now say that the car now cold starts on a cold morning without a lumpy Idle so the new ones did the trick

Yeah i had to have 2 replaced earlier this year. At BMW dealers, they charged £ 263 each :o
Yeah my Indy garage said he could get them for £262 each, ended up paying £228 each from ML performance, looks like they get them from a bmw main dealer in Scotland. They are easy to fit and code if you have the correct software to do it.

You're right there. Some dealers are better than others regarding pre-emptive work but I'd never be happy waiting for a component to fail and leave me stranded before getting it fixed.

I just replaced the fuel pump in the tank of my 335i. It was working completely fine but I could see it struggling to keep up at full power so I knew its days were numbered. Warranty would have only touched that once the car started throwing errors.
This is an excellent point often overlooked when considering an extended warranty for the car. They don't (usually?) cover pre-emptive maintenance, only failures, so if you know something's failing but hasn't died yet, you'll potentially be wondering whether you're going to finish the journey each time you set out.

An insured warranty can never be a guarantee against break-down, of course. It can be a big help, though. When 2 of my injectors failed, the AD replaced all 6 under the warranty. Not quite pre-emptive maintenance, but 66.6%. :)
