not exactly Zed related...how to build a jet engine...

http://bbc.co.uk/i/t0yx9/

Very interesting programme, especially if you have a secret admiration for planes/jets/engineering

I bet it was filmed at Filton (near Bristol), and it's one hell of a walk from the car park to the offices when you've got about a tonne of AV equipment to move :headbang:

fimed at rolls royce hq derby it was an ok programme but wouldve been more interesting if they had concentrated on the trent 800 and 900 now those two engines have some amazing tricks up their sleeves !

Hi Nick,

didn't do the whole thing, ten mins or so, but good post!.

I have for most of my working life worked with jet and turbine engines and after all these years, and regrettably they are vary many, am still in awe of these beautiful machines.

Also heartening to see the pride that the people at RR display, they have every right to!.

was an interesting programme, wish my work was like that, industrial turbines just dont have the glamour!

Agreed - such a simple physical principle producing such awesome power - and a great noise!

I still find it amazing watching a plane glide up into the sky, tonnes of metal so gracefully taking to the skies purely on the fact that the air is travelling faster over the top of the wing compared to the bottom... brilliant :cpilot:
