Worth a punt?

Think people get really hung up on the whole Z4M investment thing. Enjoy the car and sell it in a few years for 6k. It's great the these cars are holding and even increasing in valve, but that's not why I bought mine. For me it was the 343BHP, rear wheel drive and a limited slip diff.

Life's short so let's enjoy it if we can :) :driving: :driving:

Looks like a perfectly nice car to me, if all the history was there and I could chip a few quid more off, I would not be put off by the mileage. Some of these cars are now 11 years old, the law of averages means that a few will have over 100k miles on them.

Agreed , there are cars on here doing under 1000miles per year , that car could easily swallow that on top of its 130k & you have had the same enjoyment as any other MR owner
Bid him £8500 & forget about spending big on it , just get it tiptop & enjoy it

Spot on.

Well I've e-mailed the guy, let's see what happens.

Thanks for all replies chaps, all banked.

Good luck John.

It may lean slightly to the right due to the ///M badge on the boot being on the wrong side. :o

If your gonna keep it only for 3 years, move right along, don't do it. If it's gonna be a keeper, I'd say go for it. It all depends on what you want to do to the car, rag it around the track? Sure, how long will that last before something goes bang? These cars can be tracked all day long, but for that you gotta keep them in top Nick, and /THAT/ costs a packet.
:rtfm:

If you buy it and do the required maintenance you wont have any issues. the main concerns are the Rod Bearings then vanos seals and rattle kit and then valve clearances. once you do that, you most likely just have to service the car and enjoy it...

I've purchased a Z4M recently and also had to do the preventative maintenance (bearings, vanos, shims) to get peace of mind.. but now that its done, i can rev the nuts off it knowing that the motor wont explode... its an amazing machine, a thrill that only a few cars out there can give you...

But dont just buy it to park it off as a collectors car and then sell it with lowish mileage a few years down the line.... Drive the car, enjoy the car! You deserve it :driving:

If it happens it'll get used all weathers. :D

The guys e-mailed back, it's had a new vanos unit, the clutch is fine and it's on all original paint, so he says. RickRobs observation of the M badge on the boot makes me think it might have had paint to the boot area for whatever reason though.

Could have been de badged by previous owner and whoever put it on just guessed where it went. :dunno:

Sounds good! Will be a great project with the Vanos done that's one of the big ones not to worry about!

I wouldn't worry about the badges a lot owners had them removed and its very difficult to put them back in the right place and many have no idea where they go anyway!

Had mine put back on by bmw when I bought it and they even ordered the badge tool and didn't get it right!

Well had my wings clipped somewhat now. I got an unexpected call this afternoon to see an electrophysiologist for a nerve study test in a couple of weeks. Not much info on it yet as it was just the booking girl ringing but I'm hoping this test will tell me if the phrenic nerve will recover or not, timescales, and what, if anything, we can do if it isn't going to recover. The outcome will impact massively on my future. So I'm holding station for now until the results. The car will probably still be there so I'll go and see it in a few weeks, or not if the results go belly up...
