Worrying vibration/noise

Driving the car home last night I noticed it was making a deeper sort of noise, a bit of a vibration when initially increasing revs.

It does the same thing no matter whether its in gear or not; as I stopped, lifted the bonnet and revved it a little to try and get a better indication of what it might be.

I then took the car for a short drive to let the engine etc fully heat up (my drive from work is ridiculously short, but since someone stole my bicycle I'm driving at the moment). Anyway, the noise/vibration doesn't occur at any other time than when initially putting revs on.

This morning its pretty much the same, if not a little worse.

I have no real idea of what it can be. Although my initial thoughts were that there may be something loose with the exhaust..?

Any ideas?

Can you work out which part of the car it's from? Sounds like an engine issue as it does it when the car is stopped. Does it sound like a rattle or grinding?

Thank you for your replies guys.

I'll check the back bumper etc, but the car is going into the garage soon anyway so I'll add this to the list. I'm giving the car some TLC for an early Christmas present!

It does seem strange that this started when all I had been doing was the 10 minute drive to work and back, no stress, bumps etc.
