Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this knocking.
This is what I can tell you about it.
I can only hear it about 50% of the time.
It is a dull heavy sound at about 8 knocks per second.
Does not get faster or slower with engine RPM so I don't think it is directly from the engine (big end or small end).
Only occurs when the engine speed is somewhere between 1000 and 2000 RPM.
It can occur when stationary in neutral (so I don't think it can be from the drive train) with or when moving slowly with clutch up or down.
I'm fairly sure that it is coming from the rear and if I open the small hatch between the seats it seems louder in there.
I first heard it about 2 years ago but I thought it was coming from the building site I was next to so I ignored it, since then it has become more frequent.
I have shaken the exhaust and I can't hear it hitting against anything.
Could it be fuel pump related?
