Worried 'bout my zed....

It is currently resting in an underground carpark in the centre of Paris. The spaces are tiny and the drivers in Paris are mental! I think I should take bets on the number of door dings I accumulate...It has one small one currently on the boot lid. (In fact given the rather entertaining driving shown by the Parisians it may be more than door dings....)

But I loved the drive from Cockermouth to near Bordeaux then back up to Paris. Average speed 60mph and average fuel was 32mpg.... not bad given its 1000miles (and return to Paris was 'normal roads' and the autoroute was 80+).
Roof down once in france....

It certainly makes my Fiat Panda 1.2 8v hire car interesting! The Tuscan hills are often negotiated in 1st gear!I don't think I have ever driven such an underpowered car before! I love hire cars!

I think I'd be worried too.You never see a car in Paris without a load of dings on it. The French aren't worried about fixing dents and bumps though, unlike us Brits,so it is probhably not as bad as it seems. I'd use public transport around the city and us the Z for out of town stuff.

you could have tried putting something over the doors etc to protect it.

some foam pipe insulation for example, anything to stop car doors opening onto yours

The z4 is resting in an underground car park as I do a tour of Italy. I couldnt resisit taking the zed to france for a bit of open top driving. Got the train frpm paris to geneve, then Milan. We then moved onto Venice where we met my daughter - she is with us for the next 3 weeks(so a 2 seater was not suitable!) . Currently in the hills of Tuscany with the biggest storm I have seen for ages!

Have to say that train travel in Europe is superb - and relatively cheap as well!Much happier driving the rental panda around these hills!

Take up two bays.

I'm assuming you have never been to paris and witnessed the driving skills of the locals, If he took up two bays they would merely persuade his Z into one bay using their own car to do it, trust me I have watched them do it.
