if you can get them Autodoc have been out of stock for a while
Yeah I’m finding that also. Was talking to demon tweets about it. They recommended replacing the springs also

Bear in mind that the ride height is much more defined by the sprig than the shock. Reducing the working range of a standard shock by fitting it with lower springs is not going to have a massive effect tbh, not over the small difference between SE and Sport.
Honestly, I've fitted Sachs shocks to both SE and Sport suspension, using the same shock sourced from Autodoc and the respective ride heights have been as they should be and there's not been any discernable effect on handling.
As I previously mentioned, if you start going into more bespoke set ups then you should consider matching new shocks to corresponding new springs.

Don’t worry I have no intention of doing anything other than replacing them pretty much like for like certainly dont want to lower it anymore.

At the end of the day this is a 125k 18+yr 3k old car there is absolutely no point throwing mega cash at it other than what is needed to sort it correctly

The Sachs shocks are fitted as O.E. to 3.0Si MSport models, so if they’re good enough for those, they’ll be good enough for a less powerful model

I’ve done a referb with the Sachs shocks and all good, I’m be very surprised if anyone could tell the difference driving the same same car fitted with Sachs or B4’s

Go for whichever is cheapest/available at the time :-) When I bought mine Sachs were almost twice the price of B4's.

part number is not on real oem. Always get suplex for the rears. Might a well replace these at the same time. Springs do sag over time and these have had 18yrs so daft not to for the price.

I bought my 08 with 76k miles on it a few months ago. All four shocks were stock and totally shot. Who knows how long ago the first shock failed but it's probably safe to assume the first shock went bad many miles ago. FYI you can tell the shock is shot when it doesn't extend after compressing it. Of course the shock/strut needs to be removed from the car to perform this test. Leaking also a clear sign.

Front control arm ball joints were also shot on both sides. The control arm bushings were also very much shot. Sway bar links weren't quite bad but they were cheap and easy to replace so I did so. I replaced Rear trailing arm bushings but they were really not bad and could have remained in service.
