Worlds most boring post!

I decided to see just how economical my new Z4 could be this morning and after a 46 mile (boring) commute up the M6 to work which included 3 miles of country roads on either side of the M6 the mpg reading was 46.3 mpg. Not only that but when I was exiting the M6 after 43 miles it was 49.7 mpg! That's darn good... boring but pretty good!

We were driving down to Hampshire over the weekend and I said to my girlfriend "you'll probably find this boring, but I can't believe how many more mpg you get in warm weather - we're averaging 4mpg more than usual", to which she replied "yes, that is boring".

Boring is the key word in this thread!! lol

Now I've done it - I can get on with driving how I want to but just impressed with how economical it was.

Think we've all bored someone with this one.

"It's jumped from 29.7 to 32.4 this week" said I.
"That's great" said my wife, "so now it only costs twice as much to go anywhere compared to my Mazda!"

Crashed and burned baby.............

I went to Chester then to Alton towers last weekend and back to Penrith sat at 80 the whole way apart from a/bs and if anyones been to Alton towers they know its a pretty windy horrible road, but managed 35.4mpg on the trip! Impressive for the M

Love that thing. With a careful accelerator foot you can do wonders. Another 40 miles of town and A/B driving its reading 27.9mpg still impressive.

Averaged 23.9MPG over the first 9000 miles.

I do the opposite, I see how low I can get it!

14.3 mpg over a 10 mile run, Sports+ all the way

+1

Long term Ave is 19.2 on mine. But I can get it into single figures on a proper blast down a good B road. :D

Out of interest, as someone else mentioned Mazda. I get 26.4 Ave mpg out of my 323Sport. :)

Maybe it's me. :D  :driving:

I've managed a low of 7mpg averaged over 100 miles on a trackday - just don't calculate how much that fuel cost me

I didn't say I was worried about it, just seeing what she can do and part of that is how economical she 'can' be if needed. Needless to say I was impressed. I wish I had the money not to take fuel economy on board. But when I'm in the middle of work taking me over 1000 miles a week for the next few weeks it comes into play unfortunately :-/

I must not have been going fast enough. I averaged 8.6 yesterday at Cadwell Park and 7.7 at Brands Hatch today. I think the slow down lap saved a bit.

I love the way that 30mpg has been an automotive economy benchmark for about 20 years. Still really satisfying to hit it.

A mate of my brother had a Jesnsen Interceptor for a while. 7.2L - that wasn't very economical......

We had a shonky old Dodge with a fricking massive V8...I honestly thought it had a hole in the tank...NOTHING should do 8 mpg!

It wasn't even that fast!

Well my parents boat has twin 18L 6 Cylinder Caterpillars (yes thats 3L per cylinder!) .... flat out she will do a stonking 25 knots.... and burn 100 gallons an hour, thats right 4 gallons to the mile! (it doesnt go flat out very often!)

To be fair it is also 38 tons! :P

based on that consumption the difference between 20-25MPG for me is kinda irrelevant and i just accept it and move on, quickly! :driving:
