So yesterday i was just entering one of my more favoured pieces of road itching to hit the loud pedal, when in front of me was a Land Rover, and a Rover 75. I thought ok, they shouldnt be too difficult to pass if/when the path is clear. Then just ahead 2 cars with caravans proceeded to pull out, I thought great, how am i going to get passed this lot!

But then as we entered a long straight section the coast was clear, and the Rover 75 ahead decided to pull out to overtake the 2 cars pulling caravans. Then i made my move, with sport mode engaged i pulled out put my foot to the floor, then wow! the car felt like it was going to take off and flew passed the lot of them, and in no time i was doing silly speed an hour!

A very satisfying feeling to put it mildy  :driving: :D

It's great when you get to see quite how much urge the zed has under the bonnet

Stay safe though...

Tapatalking...

It certainly is, i was grinning from ear to ear after the move :D
I was initially only intending to pass the cars with caravans, but such was the acceleration i ended up shooting passed the Rover just ahead aswell! But i reigned it back in straight after.

Im as cautious as they come when overtaking on a single carriageway, and wont go unless im absolutely 100% sure it is safe enough to do so.

As you say, keep it safe

I cant imagine what an extra 80 horses feels like, I mean the 3.0l e89 isn't slow :)

Having upgraded from a 30i it feels great, + roughly and extra 100 - 140 lbs/ft of torque to boot :D

And as you say sars, the 30i is no slouch either. In the real world it is plenty quick enough.

The 35is is compared to Boxster S and SLK AMG in the latest issue of Car. It gets a decent write up and they prefer it to the SLK but seems to fall a long way short of the Boxster S in their view. They basically said its a nice GT not a sports car. I would agree.

Incidentally they also quote 0-125mph times for all three:-

Boxster S 17.3
SLK 17.5
Z4 18.9

The Z4MC did 0-120 in 16.8 and 0-130 in 20.0 so that would equate to circa 18.4.....

Glad to see your having fun with it. Its a great feeling to know you have the power to get out of tricky situations :)

Thats interesting considering the 0-62 times for the BoxsterS and 35is are identical on paper, but there no match for a chipped N54 :D I would say without blowing any smoke i'm running 4.5secs 0-62 if not marginally quicker. Z4MC on paper runs 0-62 in about 5secs is that right?

I've been on the autobahns yesterday and the pick up from 80 to 140 is amazing!!! I was wondering what speed it would go up to without a limiter.. Temp of the engine stayed at 120 when I was doing 150 for about 20 miles...my hands were sore holding onto the steering wheel, and concentrating so hard!!

Last year in Germany i realised the car is faster than me. At 145 the car was asking to go faster. It was as steady as a rock but heart rate could not keep up

The Boxster being 200kg lighter makes up for a lot of BHP deficit. I'd be willing to bet it would be the quickest on track by some margin as well, re-map or no re-map.

Yes the M is 5.0s to 62mph, probably would be a lot quicker with a launch control - its getting the initial traction away from the line that slows it down.

Surprised they make the Z4 0-125 time is so much slower than that of the Boxster, and SLK. The Z4 has more power and torque than the Porsche, though being a fair bit heavier its power to weight is less.
I have seen elsewhere quoted times for both in the low 17s, and the Z4M at 17secs.
I would have expected the SLK to come out on top having over 400bhp and a better power to weight ratio.

Steve - I was similarly surprised. I think the Boxster S was a sport chrono, PDK equipped version which would save a few tenths.

The SLK was heavier than the Z but again more power but maybe not away cleanly enough. I reckon by 140 the SLK would be ahead on sheer horsepower/torque advantage.

They have always put the porker top no matter what, its a shame nothing will take the shine from it, it was slower so they still perfered it, now biased faster with a rag that is manually operated, and is quite difficult to lock, but hay its a porker.

my neighbour has a 5 series 3.5 rechip and its manic, no lack in low revs, or dropping off in high revs, its pulling at 1,2 3 then before you know its 100+. Try it in my 3.0 we start to get jitter at the back and turning we get more under steer at lower speeds, more fun but his is simply cold but fast. he will be going on track to do the times in the next few weeks, but Im thinking 3.5, umm 3.5 chipped, but then again not, nearly ditched this one, it can still catch you out, sub 6 seconds is still serious.
